Farmer dies after becoming trapped inside a grain silo

A man in his 80s died after falling into a grain silo on his farm in Lancashire.

The accident happened at a farm in Burscough, north of Ormskirk, on Thursday when the farmer plunged inside the storage structure.

Emergency services rushed to the Orrell Farm to rescue the man, who has been named locally as John.

Crews cut open the silo in a bid to reach him, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
