My Gail’s sandwich has ‘dangerous’ salt levels – I simply don’t care

Sitting in the sumptuous surroundings of my local Gail’s, I opened my laptop and took a humongous bite of my favourite salmon bagel. 

That’s when I saw it – a news article with the headline: ‘Alarmingly high levels of salt in popular sandwiches’.

I was caught like a rabbit in headlights.

Scrolling through the article, it said the Gail’s chicken caesar club had ‘6.88g of salt’ the equivalent of nearly five McDonald’s cheeseburgers – or 10 rashers of bacon.’

And under that, reference to the same bakery chain’s smoked salmon bagel – 4.2g.

I looked at my lunch in disbelief.

It sounded a bit like, to me, unneeded guilt over so...
