Valve really isn't budging: Steam Machine and Steam Frame are still 'shipping this summer,' it insists

In a year marked by severe component price hikes and shortages, Valve is still determined to release Steam Machine and Steam Frame by the end of summer. The company confirmed as much as it announced the expansion of its Verified program, which goes into effect today despite neither Steam Machine or Steam Frame having a firm release date.

Valve's Verified program categorises Steam games based on their performance on Valve's hardware and compatibility with Proton, which makes it possible for Windows games to run on Linux. The Verified system was introduced with the release of Steam Deck, but will now expand to account for the new hardware. We learned a bunch about these changes at GDC, but overall: if a game works well on Steam Deck it'll work well on Steam Machine.

In Junes 20 years apart, PC Gamer was writing about monitors, and what you could get for $600-700. In 1996, that was a CRT with something in the 800x600 pixel range at 17 inches. "That's not bad, but it isn't exactly cheap, either," we said at the time. In 2016, standards had changed a wee bit: a 27-inch, 1440p display with a 165Hz refresh rate was the hottest thing on the market, and around the same price. Today we're gaga for OLEDs as you can see in our best gaming monitors guide. There are certainly cheaper options, but it's funny how a quality monitor hasn't changed in price all that much even 30 years later.

Peter Schiff posted two warnings on June 3. The first argued that Bitcoin’s complacency levels were incompatible with a genuine market bottom, predicting that a break below $50,000 would trigger a rapid collapse toward $20,000 and shake long-term holders into capitulation.

There is way too much complacency in Bitcoin for the market to be anywhere near a bottom. When Bitcoin breaks $50K, it should be a quick fall below $20K, which should be a big enough drop to shake the conviction of long-term HODLers, causing many to finally throw in the towel.

Outrage has erupted in France after it emerged the main suspect in the case of an 11-year-old girl missing since last week had been repeatedly accused of sexually abusing children with no action taken. A body was discovered on Thursday and formal identification was underway. Speaking with FRANCE 24's Sharon Gaffney, Mié Kohiyama, co-president of 'Be Brave France', says that "the judicial system should consider first and believe the victims and the survivors".

Last month, a game called Shrimp Game: Krill Confirmed launched on Steam. It's a self-contained demo for the upcoming shrimp game, Shrimp Game, and as a game about shrimp it has all the features you'd expect: You can pilot one of 11 weaponized combat shrimp-forms, imbue them with a cocktail of violent elemental powers, and equip them with dozens of armaments like shotguns, sniper rifles, and explosive cannon rounds.

I'll admit I'm not a marine biologist, so there's a chance that isn't all standard shrimp behavior. But there's zero chance that it doesn't make for a surprisingly rad third-person shooter that we, as a culture, collectively failed to properly acknowledge for an entire month. It only has 126 Steam reviews, for God's sake. We call ourselves a society?
